Basic coverages for your vehicle
Bodily Injury (BI)- Bodily injury coverage is designed to pay the medical
expenses of a person injured by you due to a motor vehicle collision. Usually
displayed as an amount per person and amount per accident. The minimum
required in Nevada is $15,000/$30,000.
Property Damage (PI)- Property damage coverage pays for the possessions of
others that you may damage due to a vehicle collision. It is displayed as a
single number following the BI coverage. In Nevada the minimum is $10,000
Uninsured Motorist (UM)- This is designed to protect you and your passengers
from the medical expenses that may occur if you are struck by a driver with no
insurance. Coverage in usually identical to BI coverage with an amount per
person and amount per accident.
Medical Coverage (Med Pay)- This is no-fault coverage for everyone in your
vehicle to help cover medical expenses regardless of who causes an accident.
Comprehensive (Comp)- This coverage repairs or replaces your car in the event
of theft, vandalism, weather damage, or any other non-collision loss. This
coverage has a deductible which represent the amount of the repair cost that
you are responsible for.
Collision (Coll)- Collision coverage repairs or replaces your vehicle in the event
of a collision regardless of who is actually at fault. This coverage has a
deductible which represent the amount of the repair cost that you are
responsible for.
